After thinking about how Jesus was displaced in the most extreme ways, I went on to ponder how I should follow His example…
First, I can remember that this world is not my home.
“For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven:”
II Corinthians 5:2
I shouldn’t expect to feel at ease or at home here on earth. I will always have Satan and my flesh to contend with down here, both of which give me that homesick feeling! As long as I desire for heaven to be my home, no dwelling made by man can satisfy that longing.
Second, given that being at ease is not my goal, I need to be willing to leave my comfort zone to fulfill the Lord’s purpose in my life.
“Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,”
2 Timothy 1:8-9
I love being at home. I could seriously be a hermit most of the time and be perfectly happy. But the work I’ve been called to do is not at my home right now. My flesh struggles greatly with getting out the door almost every morning, and my job definitely has its ups and downs, but it’s worth the battle and hardship to have peace in my soul.
This is awesome! â¤ï¸Sent from my iPhone
