Day 1 (Little Bit): 30 Days of Thankfulness

Little Bit and I went grocery shopping on Saturday and, of course, had to visit the dollar stores. We were on a mission to find a turkey! She doesn’t really ask for a lot of stuff, but one day last week she requested a toy turkey. I figured that would be an easy, inexpensive treat for helping with the groceries. I was wrong. The stores we went to had very little merchandise dedicated to Thanksgiving. There were a lot of Halloween things and even more Christmas things available, but just a handful of stuff for the month of November. It seemed like the theme went from “give me candy” to “give me presents” without stopping to be grateful in between. So, I decided to challenge myself to focus on how the Lord has blessed me. I’m going to try to share a short post every day in November dedicated to one specific element of my life as a mama that I am thankful for.

He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord.

Psalm 113:9

I am infinitely thankful for the little girl who calls me mama! Sometimes I still look at her and can hardly believe she’s real. The miracle of her existence just blows me away. I am so glad that the Lord saw fit to put her in our care and allow us the opportunity to nurture and raise her to serve Him. I am grateful for how taking care of her has made me look beyond myself and be less selfish. I am thankful to spend every day with such a beautiful little person. I love all the little moments that make me smile so much my face hurts. I love when she tells me that we’re best friends and pray that we will always have this special bond. It makes my heart melt that she says she misses me when we’re apart for just a little while. I love her little personality that is sometimes bigger than she can handle. I even appreciate the trying times that bring growth and new knowledge for both of us. Being a mama is not an easy role in the least, and sometimes I lose sight of what a blessing it is, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything else in the world!

P.S. I also challenge you, as a reader, to comment below about why you are thankful for the little people in your life!
