And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.
Matthew 14:23
I am thankful for quiet, peaceful times. Times when I can think clearly. Times when I can pray earnestly. Times when I can study the Bible and hear what the Word says. A lot of these times are when Little Bit is still asleep, and that’s why I usually get up early. We read and pray throughout the day, but it’s different from alone time with the Lord. I’m not naturally a morning person, but I cherish my time spent getting ready for the day, so it’s totally worth waking up. And as you’ve probably noticed, I get most of my writing done at night, after she has gone to bed.
It’s not always easy to find quiet moments when a chatty little girl is awake, but I was so proud of her this evening. My husband was studying for his Sunday School lesson, and she asked to watch him. I told her she had to be quiet and let Daddy study, and she sat across from him at the dining room table for quite a while without saying a word, just watching. That little occurrence makes me hopeful that she recognizes the importance of staying in the Word and will one day desire to study and seek the Lord for herself.
