We Can Pray

The other day, something happened to one of Little Bit’s dolls or stuffed animals. I forget now which one it was or even the particular imaginary injury or ailment. But of course, I played along with the drama and asked, “What should we do?” And without even pausing to think, she said, “We can pray!” It makes my heart happy that my little girl doesn’t hesitate to turn to Jesus, even in a pretend situation. She will already ask to go pray at the altar sometimes at church, and I hope she will always remember Who she can count on!

Because that’s the answer to everything: a continual conversation, through Jesus, with the creator of the universe. I have no idea how people make it without being able to talk to Him.

Now to be honest, I don’t always know how to pray about a situation, other than, “Lord, your will be done.” Of course, I do pray for specific things a lot of the time, but I don’t want to get in the habit of just asking for a wishlist of what I think is needful. I want to be constantly seeking the Lord’s will and guidance, and trusting Him to know what is best. And I know that I can trust Him completely!! No matter what happens, I know that there is peace in putting everything in the Lord’s hands.

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6,7
What A Friend

On a side note, I am so thankful for the songwriters who have been blessed with the gift to pen these songs which give me a way to praise the Lord when I can’t find the right words!
